This Sunday is an opportunity for everyone concerned about climate change to join others and call for meaningful action. It’s all planned to show world leaders attending the UN summit next week that we want them to act now. There is a massive march taking place in New York. I would love to be there.
Here in Ireland there are a few events around the country with the main event being in St Stephens Green at noon this Sunday, September 21st. Check out peoplesclimate.org for information and Dublin’s event here.
I have plans for the day which include a coastal clean, picnic and jump in the Atlantic to bring awareness to the fact that our oceans are heating up. I’ve invited others but many people are not pushed. One person stated that while they are concerned about climate change they’re apolitical.
Apolitical? I suppose instead of showing governments we are concerned we could all chose to be A-pathetic.
No wonder the world is in the mess it’s in. People need to engage. What’s there to fear about influencing government. Surely that’s our role – direct those who represent us.
If you’re free Sunday and have any concerns about our climate please take the time to join others calling for action.
